Campfire Apple Pie Pockets

Ingredients

  • 4 slices white bread
  • 1 large apple peeled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix the diced apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and salt.
  • Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place one slice of bread, butter side down, on the pie iron.
  • Spoon half of the apple mixture onto the bread, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Top with another slice of bread, butter side up.
  • Close the pie iron and trim any excess bread.
  • Cook over the campfire for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy.
  • Carefully remove the apple pie pocket from the pie iron and let it cool for a minute before enjoying.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients to make the second pocket.
